Personal project

the research that i looked at made making a mask fun but difficult in ways.

so me and adam decided to go through with it.

me and adam had made a plan of our mask on paper and then coloured it to get a decent idea of what the actual mask would look like. we also made a model of the mask using plasterstine

we picked the type of design because it was something different as all the other masks looked basic and boring we picked this because the design looked pretty good and we didnt mind a challenge either.

me and adam decided to make the mask using paper mache as it was the possibly the most easiest and quickest way to make the mask.

it was also very easy to paint,im glad we choose paper mache because it was a hard but fun process.

we had the option of using chicken wire to make the mask but we thought that would of took to long and we thought it would of been quite a challenge as the wire can cut very easily so we kept is simple and basic and went with the paper mache option.

in the end the masks turned our pretty well and im glad we did this project

me and adam helped eachother through the full project so i thought it was quite decent.

here is a picture of me adding titles and credits ,this was a pretty simple task and was quite fun in the process.

Since we moved classroom i had to add the music using windows movie maker , it was quite simple to be honest. i choose edward maya - Stereo love as the music.

i found everything easy apart from making the models i wasnt to keen on doing that but in the end i got it completed with help from adam shaw.

well i would to alot of things different. i would work harder next time and plan out a story inside of just doing something very random. i would also use sound effects and not just a music track.

Animation

This the animation i produced.

i made it by using 2 plasterstine models.

i created one of them and adam shaw made the other one for me.

i used a program called iStopmotion and i captured the video my using an Mac camera.

it currently has no sound or credits i may have to do that at some point to improve the grade.

i need to download the delboy theme and also add a title and credits to the video next time im on the mac's.

This is my finished mask.
today we cut the paper mashe in half so it wouldnt be a big ballon anymore.
im quite happy with my mask to be honest.
it could be alot better but i have other work to do.

why am i happy with this work

i am happy with this work because i produced at my possible best. at times the work was abit hard but i got through it and got it completed.

what i learnt from it

ive learnt that to get work done you need be able to commit wish i will definitely be doing in the future as my work could of been much better that it is.

i would of planned in more detail to of improved my work and i would also spend more time detailing the work so the grade would be higher.

how does this compare to other maks

well my mask isnt as good as any of the masks we were planning on replicating but i guess my mask is just basic so id say its just a beginners test

me and adam choose to make the masks using paper mache because we found it to be the quickest and easiest way. we made the paper mache within 3lessons and painted it within 2-3 so it went quite well in my opinion.

today i didnt really do anything.
i was looking through all my work and posts on my blog because i need to achieve two merits to get on game design level two
so im going to have to improve my work to get it.

but here is the latest of what my mask looks like.

today i painted my paper mache using white paint and pav glue mixed together to give it a waterproof coating. tomorrow i will be paining it ,i havent decided what colours yet im goign to decide tomorrow but for now here is a picture of what it looks like now.

this is the paper mache we put three layers of paper onto it so its nice and solid, i made it today to make a mask with .next week i will be painting it in the colours me and adam designed.this was the worst ever we got glue everywhere it was all adams fault.

What we are going to do today

today me and adam are going to make a paper mache each.we've made them before so it shouldnt be that much of a challenge,if we have enough time we may do a little bit more research.

How To Make A Life Mask!

Step 1
Put the headband around the person's head you want to mask. Make sure all hair is out of the way. Then coat the petroleum jelly to the entire face -being sure to put extra along hair line, on eyebrows, eyelashes, and lips.
Step 2
Mix 1/2C of warm or cool water and 1/3c Plaster of Paris in bowl.
Step 3C
over each plaster strip- one at a time- into the mixture. Starting at the outer corners of the face, apply one at a time to face, overlapping each as you go.
Step 4
If you want the mask to have the eyes and mouth covered you of course, will need to cover these parts with plaster as well. Save this for last!
Step 5
Repeat layering of plaster strips for 2 layers- 3 around the delicate jaw areaStep 5Repeat layering of plaster strips for 2 layers- 3 around the delicate jaw area

Add a bit more plaster to your mixture to make it more thick and creamy. Then apply to evenly smooth out mask.
Step 7
Wait 12-15 minutes for the mask to harden and dry.
